Inauguration of Kep Waste Water Treatment Plant and Tourist Facilities

Kep, Thursday 20 November 2019.

The Minister of Tourism, H.E. Dr. Thong Khon officially opened the new wastewater treatment plant and tourist facilities at the Kep crab market. Kep’s provincial governor attended the opening. Kep city officials and more than 200 local business owners and vendors. The new facility was funded through ADB Tourism Infrastructure for Inclusive growth project at a cost of USD $1 million. Local contractor Khmer Décor Construction Company began work on the facility 15 November 2017 and completed all of the works on 30 September 2019. built the facility. Thirty-two restaurants, three public toilets, and wastewater from seafood processing and cooking operations is now being treated by the new facility. The project also provided Kep provincial department of public works and transport with a new multi-purpose vacuum truck to service the Kep wastewater treatment plant and local businesses and households who rely on septic tanks to treat wastewater. Kampot and Koh Kong were also provided with waste compactors to support greater coverage for waste collection services in these growing coastal towns.
